Even storm Dennis couldn’t stop the ladies 6’s today. At the start of the game it was hailing and when I was soaking after 10 minutes I did half question our decision to play... however play we did and what a great game.
In the first half we were going up hill and had loads of possession but couldn’t seem to get a goal. We had a number of short corners but they didn’t seem to work either.
We worked hard keeping the ball and fought for another short corner and tried a different tactic this time, with the ball finally hitting the backboard from Helen Lees.
Kings Heath hit straight back and had it not been for a great save with the left glove it would have been all equal.
We struck again quickly with the goal coming from Eleanor.
At half time we had wise words from Cerys and the rain finally stopped too.
The second half Kings Heath struck first after Christine allowed them to steal the ball near the D.
At that point the game seemed it could go either way and it took an age for Helen to put her second in the back of the net.
Jess then expertly put another one in and it finally felt comfortable. Just for good measure, Christine decided to give the ball away again next to the goal and King Heath slotted home to bring the final score to 4-2.
